Offered here is an authentic antique mid-19th-century Chinese Export porcelain plate in the timeless Rose Medallion pattern. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty (circa 1850–1870), this 9.5-inch plate features four alternating panels radiating from a gilded central bird-and-peony medallion.
Two panels depict finely detailed indoor court scenes featuring Mandarin figures, scholars, and attendants dressed in rich, vibrant Famille Rose enameled robes. The alternating two panels are heavily adorned with a wildlife motif showcasing songbirds, butterflies, ripe melons/fruits, and bursting pink peonies. The negative space is heavily worked with a dense scrollwork border of green tendrils and gold gilding.
Collector Note on the Base: The underside of this plate features an exceptional unglazed wedge foot ring with heavy remaining historical kiln sand and firing grit alongside rich orange iron spots. This is a highly sought-after authentication mark for early to mid-19th-century Chinese export porcelain, showing exactly how the piece sat in the kiln over 150 years ago.
