This plate is from the estate of a collector of Doulton/Royal Doulton tableware. While made by Davenport Pottery, not Doulton, the pattern is the precursor to Royal Doulton's "The Granville" chinoiserie pattern. Apparently Doulton was able to work out the kinks of the blue coloring spreading during firing! Printed and incised backstamps date this piece to 1856.
