This china is so beautiful, light and airy. I fell in love when I first saw it! It is a "comfortable" china - not stodgy or formal. There is a subtle gold band around the rim. The shapes are very simple. The plates have no rise at all; just a slight curve upward. The soup bowls are shallow, without rims. The decorations are like ikebana flower arrangements, slightly off-center and highlighting individual flowers and branches. The china is lovely and translucent. Meito has been making fine china for more than a hundred years, but under different owners. I believe this china to have been made in the 1970s.
There are TWO sets of six place settings available (42 pieces). Each place setting consists of seven pieces:
10-inch dinner plate
8-inch salad plate
8-inch soup plate (rimless)
4.5-inch bread plate
4.5-inch berry bowl
cup
saucer
The condition is vintage excellent. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. All the colors are clear and bright. No stains. There will be utensil marks on a few of the pieces, consistent with age and use. There are several photos, but please feel free to message with any questions you might have. Thank you for visiting Redux Vintage Boutique.
